Pirates of the Caribbean
About this ride
The ride begins with a tranquil drift through a candlelit New Orleans bayou before you descend two small drops into a 17th-century pirate raid. The Disneyland version is the longest of all Pirates attractions across Disney parks worldwide, with additional scenes and greater detail than its Orlando counterpart. Jack Sparrow appears multiple times, woven seamlessly into classic scenes. The iconic 'Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me)' will be stuck in your head for three days.
Best time to ride
Hit it during the 11 AM–2 PM midday rush when other rides have their longest waits — or as a relaxing end to your night. No Lightning Lane needed.
Insider tips
- The Disneyland version has an extra bayou section and more scenes than Disney World's version — it's the best Pirates in the world.
- Watch for the fireflies in the bayou section at the start. Easy to miss.
- The Blue Bayou Restaurant sits inside the ride's bayou environment — guests dining there watch boats float by.
- Look for the hidden Mickey formed by cannonballs in one of the bombardment scenes.
- Two small drops are gentle but surprising — warn anxious toddlers.
What to know before you ride
- Two small drops (minor).
- Mild darkness.
- Cannon and gunshot sound effects.
- Nothing genuinely scary, but some younger toddlers may be startled by the drops.

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is one of Disneyland's original 1955 dark rides, and it survives as the last of its kind — Disney World replaced theirs with Winnie the Pooh decades ago, making this the only Mr. Toad's Wild Ride left on earth.
