2026 Crowd calendar with every month ranked, best and worst weeks, school holiday warnings, events, weather, and ticket pricing tiers explained.
HOW THIS CALENDAR WORKS
Disney does not publish official crowd data. What I have built here is based on years of personal visits, historical patterns, school calendar analysis, and knowledge of how Disney prices its own tickets — because Disney's tiered ticket pricing is actually one of the most honest crowd indicators available. When Disney charges more for a day, they are telling you something.
This calendar covers every month of 2026 with specific week-by-week breakdowns, school holiday warnings, seasonal event callouts, weather expectations, and the one piece of advice I would give a friend planning their trip in that window. Use it as a planning tool, not a guarantee — crowds can always surprise you.
One standing rule that applies every single month: a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday will always be less crowded than the surrounding Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. If your schedule has any flexibility at all, always choose a midweek day over a weekend day regardless of season.
THE SIX CROWD LEVELS EXPLAINED
Very Low (January mid, February early, May early) — Average wait times of 10-25 minutes across the park. Rise of the Resistance runs 30-45 minutes standby at rope drop. You can realistically ride every major attraction in the park in a single day without Lightning Lane. These are the days Disneyland was designed to feel like.
Low (February, early May) — Average waits of 15-30 minutes. A strategic day yields 10-12 attractions comfortably. Lightning Lane is helpful but not essential. These are excellent visiting days.
Moderate (March early, April post-Easter, September, early November) — Average waits of 25-50 minutes. Lightning Lane becomes noticeably valuable. A well-planned rope drop day can still yield 8-10 major attractions. These are solid visiting days that reward preparation.
High (June, October, November pre-Thanksgiving) — Average waits of 45-80 minutes. Lightning Lane is strongly recommended. Rope drop strategy is non-negotiable. Expect 6-8 major attractions on a well-managed day.
Very High (August, December early) — Average waits of 55-100 minutes. Lightning Lane is essential. Standby-only visitors will struggle. The park is still magical but requires significant strategy and patience.
Peak (July, Thanksgiving week, Christmas week) — Average waits of 60-120+ minutes. Individual Lightning Lane for Rise of the Resistance sells out before 9am. The park reaches maximum capacity and may implement reservation-only entry. Go in with realistic expectations or consider rescheduling.

School Holiday Warnings: MLK Weekend Jan 17-19 — moderate crowd spike
Events & Overlays: Holiday overlays end January 6 No major events mid-month
Avoid: MLK Weekend January 17-19
Note: Mid-January is my number one recommendation for any first-timer. Post-holiday quiet, some decor still up through Jan 6, shortest lines of the entire year. Book this if you can.

Avoid: Presidents' Day Weekend February 14-16
Note: February is criminally underrated. Best hotel rates of the year, short lines, and the weather is genuinely lovely. The Presidents' Day weekend is the one exception — avoid those three days.
MARCH 2026 Crowd Level: Moderate to Peak (depending on week) Ticket Pricing: Regular Tier ($129-$154/adult) Average Wait Times: 25-55 minutes (early March), 60-100+ minutes (spring break) Weather: 62-72°F, warm days, perfect evenings Park Hours: 9am-10pm typical

Events & Overlays: Spring season begins St. Patrick's Day theming
Avoid: Spring Break window March 14 through April 6
Note: Early March before the 14th is excellent. The moment spring break hits, lines triple overnight. If your dates fall in the March 14 to April 6 window, brace yourself or adjust.
APRIL 2026 Crowd Level: Moderate (post-Easter) Ticket Pricing: Regular Tier ($129-$154/adult) Average Wait Times: 30-60 minutes Weather: 65-75°F, warm and sunny, ideal conditions Park Hours: 9am-10pm typical

Events & Overlays: Easter Weekend April 4-5 Spring season in full swing
Avoid: Easter Weekend April 4-5
Note: Easter weekend is one of the five busiest days of the entire year. Avoid April 4-5 completely. The rest of mid-to-late April is actually lovely — schools are back and the weather is perfect.
MAY 2026 Crowd Level: Low Ticket Pricing: Value Tier ($104-$124/adult) Average Wait Times: 15-30 minutes Weather: 68-78°F, warm, low humidity, perfect Park Hours: 9am-10pm typical

Events & Overlays: Star Wars Day May 4 celebrations in Galaxy's Edge Summer season preview events begin late May
Avoid: Memorial Day Weekend May 23-25
Note: Early to mid-May is my second-best recommendation of the year after mid-January. Schools are back in session, weather is gorgeous, lines are short. The sweet spot is May 5-22. Memorial Day weekend is the one trap.
JUNE 2026 Crowd Level: High Ticket Pricing: Peak Tier ($184-$209/adult) Average Wait Times: 45-80 minutes Weather: 72-85°F, sunny, warm evenings, pack layers for after 8pm Park Hours: 8am-11pm extended hours
Best Weeks: Jun 2-12 — Pre-school-out, most manageable Jun 13-19 — Schools releasing, crowds building Jun 20-30 — Full summer mode, high all week
School Holiday Warnings: Most SoCal schools out by June 13 All US schools out by June 20 — crowds surge immediately Weekends significantly worse than weekdays throughout June
Events & Overlays: Summer season officially opens Extended park hours begin Summer nighttime entertainment launches
Avoid: All June weekends, any day after June 20 without Lightning Lane
Note: June is manageable if you stick to weekdays and arrive at rope drop without fail. The extended park hours (often until 11pm) are a genuine perk — evenings are beautiful. Lightning Lane is non-negotiable from June 1 onward.
JULY 2026 Crowd Level: Peak Ticket Pricing: Peak+ Tier ($214-$229/adult) Average Wait Times: 60-120+ minutes Weather: 78-95°F, hot, pack misting fans and cooling towels Park Hours: 8am-midnight extended hours
Best Weeks: Jul 1-3 — Pre-4th surge, very busy Jul 4-6 — Maximum crowds of the year, avoid Jul 7-24 — Peak all month, no relief Jul 28-31 — Slightly lighter but still very high
School Holiday Warnings: July 4th week is the single highest-attended stretch of the year Every day in July is effectively a peak day International tourist peak adds to domestic summer crowds
Events & Overlays: 4th of July special fireworks and celebrations Summer Nightastic nighttime shows Maximum park entertainment schedule
Avoid: July 3-6 entirely. All July weekends.
Mickey Says: I tell people the truth — July is the hardest month to visit Disneyland. If you must go, arrive at 7:30am, use every Lightning Lane available, and accept that you will ride fewer things. The magic is still there — it just costs more patience. July 4th itself? Stay home.
AUGUST 2026 Crowd Level: Very High Ticket Pricing: Peak Tier ($184-$209/adult) Average Wait Times: 55-100 minutes Weather: 76-93°F, hottest month of the year, pack misting fans Park Hours: 8am-11pm extended hours
Best Weeks: Aug 4-13 — Peak summer, very high Aug 14-20 — Still very busy Aug 25-31 — Schools returning, hidden gem of summer
School Holiday Warnings: Peak summer throughout early August Many SoCal schools return around August 25 — crowds drop 30-40% Last week of August is the most underrated visiting window of summer
Events & Overlays: Summer season continues through August Back-to-school promotions begin late August Halloween Time preparations begin behind the scenes
Avoid: August 1-20 without Lightning Lane and a rope drop strategy
Note: The last week of August (Aug 25-31) is the most underrated week of the entire summer. Many schools are back in session, crowds drop 30-40% from peak, and extended summer hours are still running. That is the move if you have flexibility.
SEPTEMBER 2026 Crowd Level: Moderate Ticket Pricing: Regular Tier ($129-$154/adult) Average Wait Times: 25-50 minutes Weather: 70-82°F, warm days, cooler evenings Park Hours: 9am-10pm typical
Best Weeks: Sep 2-11 — Very manageable, excellent visiting Sep 12-18 — Halloween season opens mid-month Sep 22-30 — Halloween in full swing, moderate crowds

Events & Overlays: Halloween Time begins mid-September Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay opens (Nightmare Before Christmas) It's a Small World Halloween transformation opens Mickey's Halloween Party evening events begin (separate ticket)
Avoid: Labor Day Weekend September 1
Note: September is one of my favorite months. Schools are back, summer crowds are gone, and Halloween Time starts mid-month. The combination of manageable crowds and Halloween decorations is close to perfect. Labor Day weekend is the one speed bump.
OCTOBER 2026 Crowd Level: Moderate to High Ticket Pricing: Regular to Peak Tier ($129-$184/adult) Average Wait Times: 35-65 minutes Weather: 65-78°F, ideal fall weather, light jacket for evenings Park Hours: 9am-10pm standard, party nights until midnight

Events & Overlays: Halloween Time in full swing throughout October Mickey's Halloween Party select evening dates (separate ticket, sells out months ahead) Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay running It's a Small World Halloween running Nightmare Before Christmas theming throughout New Orleans Square
Avoid: Columbus Day Weekend October 13-16, Halloween Party nights (early park close for day guests), Halloween Weekend October 30-31
Note: October is the best-themed month of the year at Disneyland. Halloween Time is genuinely extraordinary. The trade-off is that October runs 20-30% busier than September for the same experience. Worth it for the atmosphere. Book Halloween Party tickets the day they go on sale.
NOVEMBER 2026 Crowd Level: High (Thanksgiving week: Peak) Ticket Pricing: Regular to Peak+ Tier ($129-$229/adult) Average Wait Times: 30-70 minutes (early Nov), 60-120+ minutes (Thanksgiving week) Weather: 60-72°F, pleasant, cooler evenings, layers essential Park Hours: 9am-10pm, extended holiday hours begin late November
Best Weeks: Nov 3-19 — Pre-holiday calm, excellent visiting Nov 20-23 — Thanksgiving run-up, crowds building Nov 24-30 — Thanksgiving week, avoid entirely
School Holiday Warnings: Thanksgiving Week November 24-30 is one of the five busiest stretches of the year Thanksgiving Day itself rivals July 4th in crowd intensity Travel days November 22-23 and November 30 also very high
Events & Overlays: Holiday decorations installed mid-November Christmas Fantasy Parade begins late November Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay continues It's a Small World Holiday transformation opens
Avoid: Thanksgiving Week November 24-30
Note: Early November (Nov 3-19) is genuinely excellent — holiday decorations go up mid-month while crowds are still light. That two-week window of festive decor plus manageable crowds is a real sweet spot. Then Thanksgiving arrives and everything changes.
DECEMBER 2026 Crowd Level: Very High to Peak Ticket Pricing: Peak+ Tier ($214-$229/adult) Average Wait Times: 40-100 minutes (early Dec), 60-120+ minutes (late Dec) Weather: 55-68°F, cool, layers essential, occasional light rain Park Hours: 8am-midnight extended holiday hours
Best Weeks: Dec 1-18 — Holiday magic, elevated but manageable Dec 19-23 — Schools releasing, crowds surge Dec 24-31 — Maximum crowds of the entire year
School Holiday Warnings: December 19 onward — school holidays begin nationwide December 24 through January 1 is the single highest-attended week of the year New Year's Eve requires separate ticket for special events — sells out completely If visiting December 1-18, rope drop and Lightning Lane are non-negotiable
Events & Overlays: Full Christmas overlay throughout the entire park Christmas Fantasy Parade daily Haunted Mansion Holiday running It's a Small World Holiday running New Year's Eve special events (separate ticket required)
Avoid: December 19 through January 1 — maximum crowds of the entire year
Note: December 1-18 is one of the most magical times at Disneyland — full Christmas overlay, manageable crowds, holiday atmosphere at its peak. Then schools let out December 19 and it becomes the busiest week of the year. Go early December or come back in mid-January when the dust has settled.
THE FIVE BEST WEEKS OF 2026
January 7-16 — lowest crowds of the year, some holiday decor still up, best hotel rates
May 12-22 — perfect weather, schools in session, short lines, full park availability

Spring Break window March 14 through April 6 — sustained peak-level crowds
TICKET PRICING TIERS — WHAT DISNEY IS TELLING YOU
Disney uses demand-based pricing for single-day tickets, which means the price of your ticket on any given day is one of the most honest indicators of expected crowd levels available.
Value Tier ($104-$124/adult) — January mid, February, early May. The park's quietest days. Disney is discounting to attract visitors during low-demand periods.
Regular Tier ($129-$154/adult) — Early March, April post-Easter, September, early November. Moderate crowd days. Good visiting days for guests with solid strategy.
Regular-Peak Tier ($159-$179/adult) — March spring break, October, late November. Elevated demand. Crowds are meaningfully higher. Lightning Lane becomes strongly recommended.
Peak Tier ($184-$209/adult) — June, August, most of December. Very high demand days. Full peak-day strategy required.
Peak+ Tier ($214-$229/adult) — July, Thanksgiving week, Christmas week. Maximum demand days. Disney charges its highest prices when they know the park will be at or near capacity.
The practical takeaway: if your ticket is costing you $104, Disney expects the park to be quiet. If it is costing you $229, they know it will be packed. Plan your strategy accordingly and never be surprised by crowds on a ticket you paid full peak pricing for.
Thoughts: The best single decision any Disneyland visitor can make is choosing the right week. A mid-January trip on a value-tier ticket with 20-minute waits is a fundamentally different experience from a July 4th trip on a peak-tier ticket with 100-minute waits — and they cost a fraction of the price to boot. Choose your dates wisely and the park will reward you.
