Haunted Mansion
The experience begins in a portrait gallery that slowly stretches, with the Ghost Host narrating your descent into the mansion. From there, Doom Buggies carry you through 999 meticulously themed rooms — a library of floating candles, a crystal ball with Madame Leota, a roaring ballroom scene with waltzing ghosts, and a spirited graveyard finale. The Disneyland version uniquely exits through an outdoor stretch of New Orleans bayou before returning inside — adding scenes you won't find at any other Haunted Mansion. The hitchhiking ghosts finale uses an updated mirror effect that's genuinely impressive. The 2023 expansion added a new pet cemetery queue and revamped retail shop.

Indiana Jones Adventure
highAdventureland
From the moment you step into the queue — a winding, dimly lit archeological dig site filled with sound effects, working props, and hidden Easter eggs — Indiana Jones Adventure immerses you before you ever board a vehicle. The Enhanced Motion Vehicles (EMVs) simulate off-road conditions with pitching and yawing that makes every ride feel different. Inside the temple, Indy himself appears via a life-size Audio-Animatronic while fire, snakes, and a collapsing ceiling close in around you. The famous boulder scene near the exit still gets gasps from repeat riders. The tech dates to 1995 but Imagineering built it with such precision it still feels cutting-edge today.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
moderateStar Wars: Galaxy's Edge
Rise of the Resistance begins with a pre-show briefing from Rey and BB-8, then a transport ship launch before you're captured and pulled aboard a First Order Star Destroyer. What follows is a room-to-room escape sequence of escalating awe: a hangar bay with a real AT-AT walker, interrogation cells, a massive trackless dark ride vehicle, and a climactic escape sequence with Kylo Ren pursuing your vehicle. Live actors interact with guests throughout, blurring the line between theme park and immersive theater. The ride vehicle itself is only a fraction of the experience — this is an 18-minute production that makes Disney's other rides feel modest by comparison.

Pirates of the Caribbean
lowNew Orleans Square
The ride begins with a tranquil drift through a candlelit New Orleans bayou — one of the most peaceful and atmospheric moments in any theme park — before you descend two small drops into a 17th-century pirate raid. The scope of the scenes is staggering: burning buildings, animatronic pirates looting and carousing, and the famous auctioneer scene which was updated in 2018. The Disneyland version is the longest of all Pirates attractions across Disney parks worldwide, with additional scenes and greater detail than its Orlando counterpart. Jack Sparrow appears multiple times, woven seamlessly into classic scenes. The iconic 'Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me)' will be stuck in your head for three days. That's a promise.
